JLCPCB - confused about Gerber analysis
« on: December 27, 2020, 11:28:28 pm »
Hi,

I created a 2-layer PCB in Eagle with 6 and 20 mil wide traces and minimum 6 mil spacing.

When I run the JLCPCB Gerber analysis, it reports:

Analysis Results
layers : 2
minimum trace width : >=10 mil
minimum trace spacing : >=10 mil
minimum drill size : 0.61 mm
width : 142.24 mm
height : 93.98 mm

And their capabilities state that the minimum trace width/spacing on outer layers is 5 mil.

So, I don't know what to make of the analysis report. Is it saying that my traces have to be >10 mil? Or does it think none of my traces are less than 10 mil?

Thanks.

I think it's the latter. The report is meant to be a summary of the design parameters they found; I don't think it directly ties these back to any JLPCB design rules.

So they incorrectly state ">= 10 mil" if your design actually includes smaller structures. Doesn't seem to matter though: I just checked a design I had them produce recently -- their anaysis also claims ">= 10 mil", but they manufactured the 5 mil traces and spacing nicely.

I wouldn't worry, their gerber stuff has a number of bugs.   Fortunately, they don't actually use it for manufacturing.
