JLCPCB V-Cut
« on: May 03, 2022, 10:44:44 pm »
Hi everyone,

I am sure that there is a topic like this, but I can not find it. Because of that, I start a new one. I am sorry for that.

I have a design that has 2X2cm dimensions. I want to produce a PCB that has 10X10cm dimensions and has 25 of my design. What should I do?

In JLCPCB, there are three options.

1. Single PCB
What if I create schematic and PCB has 10X10cm dimensions and has 25 of my design and I draw silkscreen lines to separate same design. Does it work? Do JLCPCB V-Cut?

2. Panel by Customer
What if I create schematic and PCB has 2X2cm dimensions and it is my own design. Then I choose Panel By Customer, and set column and row 5. Does it work? Do JLCPCB V-Cut?

3.Panel by JLCPCB
I do not want to use this option. Because it cost more and I can not afford it.

Thank you for your answers. I want to say that I am sorry for my grammer. I am not good at languages.

Note: I added a jpg file. I mean that when I say V-Cut. Maybe it does not call V-Cut.

The term you are looking for is: V-scoring.
Attached is an example from of one of my older designs: the base design is 25X25mm, the separating lines are edge cuts(KiCad).
I've submitted as single panel, and I've received as 100X100mm V-scored panels.
Good luck!

Agree with fellow Canadian @Zoli as per above.

You want SINGLE PCB + YOU supply a single file with the full look of the panel shape and this file will contain the V-cut / V-scoring lines.

Keep in mind that the machines do the work, they want this job to be fully automated so it is cheap for them to produce and cheap for you to buy.

We have done the same with assorted project with success - similar to @Zoli.

Test out your panelization layout and post here if you need help. Can ask our PCB designer to offer pointers if required but there are many online gerber viewers - including @ JLCPCB that will show you the gory details of the PCB panel.

Summary: Keep it simple for them, it will be cheap and the job will get done.

When I needed to do this I did my own panelisation, put routing around most of the edge of the sub-PCBs (in KiCad's outline layer) and put V-Cuts in the outline layer with an annotation next to each one that it was a V-cut:

and this is what I got back from JLCPCB:

Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Interesting that they made this. Last time I did panels with JLC they had the requirement of a minimum distance between V-cut lines, which was about 20mm or so. I had a board similar to yours with just a SOIC between two rows of pads and it was not wide enough, so I used mousebytes in one direction and V-cuts in the other. It serms they either got rid of that restriction or they simply made yours anyways

1. Single PCB
2. Panel by Customer

When I have submitted full panels to JLC I've always chosen "Panel by Customer", I'm surprised they are accepting full panels for production with V-score when you select "Single PCB", I always assumed that was a loss-leader and the disinction was made for commercial reasons.

Maybe you only need to choose Panel by Customer if you are going to supply only the panel outline with the first board in place and they will copy it (this is how EasyEDA produces panel data).
