PNP for home use, any suggstions
(1/1)
prutser:
I am considering a PNP machine for home use, after spending 4 hours to do PNP by hand on a small PCB with quite some 0402 and some 0.5mm pitch QFN. :(
For this reason I am considering some form of PNP machine. I am looking for some suggestions for an affordable ($750 - $1500) solution (if even possible)
Some requirements:
* Open PNP compatible
* A few feeders (2..4) would be nice, I do not mind placing some passives by hand, if e.g. placing decoupling capacitors and the common resistor values can be done using a feeder it is already a a time saver.
* As far as I understand: bottom vision is important for find pitch components
* Are there models which can "grep" components from a kind of tray (I have most SMD components in small SMD containers)
* Speed is not a concern, I expect is always saves a significant amount of time
* 0402 (imperial) components should be possible
I have seen several projects and chinese machines on teh web, but it's hard to get a clear picture, so any insights are appreciated ;D

I have an OLD commercial P&P (Quad QSA30A) made in about 2000. It has 3 nozzles and an automatic nozzle changer. A bottom camera was optional, it doesn't have it. It does have flying vision, however. There are line-scan cameras on each nozzle that sights across the part, and it gauges the dimensions and rotation/centering of the part. It does an amazing job on 0.5mm lead pitch parts, placing them within about 0.1mm of perfect, and usually even better than that. It also has a top camera for fiducial detection. It also has servo motors for the Z axis on each nozzle, and places the parts very gently. I do 0603 as my smallest parts, I don't even want to think about 0402!
