Flux recommendation
« on: September 14, 2019, 12:44:29 am »
I’m in need of flux, and embarrassingly I’ve never bought it myself. It was always bought by other folks. This would be used for hand prototype assembly and rework. Say a flux pen and a small bottle of liquid flux - I used to have a small squeeze bottle with a steel “spout” almost like a hypodermic needle, which was lost in my last laboratory move. What brands or types do you recommend?

Not sure about suppliers in Korea, but I would recommend a gel flux syringe, that way when you put it on a pad, it stays put until you heat it.
e.g. like this https://www.jaycar.com.au/solder-flux-gel-10g-syringe/p/NS3039

I ordered this from Amazon:
   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0742GFVZ7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have not tried it yet.
But, it took 4 weeks to get it (from Korea).

Here is a comparison video:

This is interesting, Jaycar stocks Deoxit brand flux,

For my applications, a solder flux must not cause too much leakage. Example, AMTECH NC-559-ASM caused me problems with high voltage IGBT driver ICs.
HP 54645A dso, Fluke 87V dmm,  Agilent U8002A psu,  FY6600 function gen,  Brymen BM857S, HAKKO FM-204, New! HAKKO FX-971.
