Fastener
« on: August 08, 2021, 06:15:30 pm »
Hi, I'm trying to find a good way to fix 2 PCBs together on top of each other.
Ideally I'm looking for a nut that I could solder on the bottom pcb. Then I could use a screw to fix the top pcb and the bottom one.

Or an insert that could work with the a 1.6mm pcb.

I wand my TOP and BOTTOM pcb to touch each other.

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you want PCB solderable threaded standoffs.

Here is a thing to start your search https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/k/keystone/surface-mount-threaded-standoffs

There are quite a few options in length, diameter, thread type.

As far as I know, there is nothing like this that would be flush with the PCB (1.6 mm tall), so there will be some part sticking on top of the PCB, but if you want PCBs to touch, you can mount one of the those things on the reverse of the PCB.

Thanks a lot guys.
That's very helpful. I'll look into those links. But from a first glance, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Hi,
so I've used the 153-SMTSO-M3-3ET
https://www.mouser.fr/ProductDetail/153-SMTSO-M3-3ET

It's small, easy to solder and quite strong. So perfect for what I wanted

Excellent!

I just wanted to add that for metric sizes, Würth also sells them.
