Putting offline SMPS module into earthed metal enclosure
« on: July 17, 2021, 10:48:36 pm »
Hi,
We have the "stood up" version of this 15W offline Flyback power module mounted on a PCB...(Page 6)

https://www.mornsun-power.com/html/pdf/LS15-13B12SS.html

Whats the easiest way to put a totally enclosing metal shield (enclosure) around it?
(bearing in mind that the PCB copper cannot be used to shield the bottom side bit, as the isolation barrier is to be clear of copper.)
'Perfection' is the enemy of 'perfectly satisfactory'

Faringdon:

I have used  small Hammond Die cast boxes for applications like this. It looks like there are some mounting holes (at least on the picture to the left), on the PCB. You could stand it off in the center of the box and then drill through the die cast aluminum to place the interfaces to the outside world.
