STM / ST nothing in stock?

(1/5) > >>

nuclearcat:
I'm checking distributors, and STM32G0 STM32F0 and many other common MCUs 0 in stock.
Anybody know what is happening?
Some gossips saying that at end of 2020 ST factory with warehouse was burned. And WS confirm that:

--- Quote ---One-off factors have also intensified the problem. Recent strikes at STMicroelectronics ’ French sites and a fire at an Asahi Kasei Microdevices factory in Nobeoka, Japan, have disrupted their chip deliveries. The two companies are among Chinese auto makers’ top suppliers.

--- End quote ---
I wonder how much time it will take to recover?

Seems nothing, they was just mentioned together in WSJ:

--- Quote ---Recent strikes at STMicroelectronics ’ French sites and a fire at an Asahi Kasei Microdevices factory in Nobeoka, Japan, have disrupted their chip deliveries. The two companies are among Chinese auto makers’ top suppliers.

While they also say:

--- Quote ---“Our operations in Crolles have been and continue to run on nominal values with no supply-chain impacts,” a STMicroelectronics spokesperson said.

I was reading history of chats in professional groups, and gossips were initially about some fire in China, but i cannot find anything in news.

But what is that then? Panic buying and things will go back on track soon?
I am trying to understand how long this shortage might take, and considering moving short projects to different MCUs.

Mecanix:
No shortage whatsoever, apart from the G0's 64kb QFN28 being the hot-cake and selling rather quickly normally, but other than that they're all there and plenty stocked and available all over the place.
Those H7, WB, L0 etc etc the whole pop lot is also full in stocks...

2021 is happening. There is a chip shortage. Mercedes and BMW has to shut down production lines, because they don't have enough ICs. Strap in for the ride, and enjoy the longer vacation, while you are waiting for the prototypes to arrive lead times.
