There's a new alternative to Tindie

Hi all,

After several months of work, we officially launched lectronz.com, a new marketplace for electronic enthusiasts focusing on the open-hardware and DIY electronics community.

As a start, we are looking for EU-based sellers to join us now, but we plan to open up to sellers worldwide soon.

Try it out: sellers will not pay any platform fees for the first 10 orders they receive!

We decided to launch lectronz.com because we needed some features that we could not find in existing marketplaces for makers today, most notably tools to calculate sales taxes/VAT based on the location of the buyer.

This is a humble start for us, but we are committed to continuing to develop lectronz.com with the input and ideas of the community.

We take a commission of 5% on sales.
Our payment provider also adds a fee of 1.4% + €0.25 for European card payments and 2.9% + €0.25 for non-European card payments.

so does your service offer deposing money directly to bank accounts in foreign countries like Jordan for example? what fees are expected then?

You'd have to check with stripe.
But, if I need to receive payments in another country I can use Wise, fees are reasonable.

Sellers can be businesses or individuals.

In general, sellers are paid out daily. However, our payment provider may delay the first payout by 7 days or more for security reasons.

Sellers must fulfill the following requirement to sell their products on Lectronz:
    Sellers will need to enroll with our payment provider, Stripe, to receive payouts.
    Sellers must not use contact details and other buyers' personal information for purposes other than the delivery of the product and product support.
    Sellers must own the products they sell. Dropshipping is not permitted.
    Sellers must ship products in a timely manner.
    Sellers must respond to customer requests in a timely manner, ideally within 2 business days.
    Sellers must act in good faith when addressing customer complaints.
    Sellers must accept all terms and conditions outlined in this document, including our refund policy.

I just noticed they do not have paypal for payouts. That's pretty useless...

Indeed. Europe has a tightly knit banking system that is much cheaper (like 100 times) compared to using Paypal.

Lectronz is based in Greece but is multinational. Personally, I'm French Does it matter?

Paypal is a bit dated and many people hate it. We might support it in the future, but for now, Stripe has been great.

Pricing is in USD or EUR: you can choose the currency you prefer in the top menu.

You do not accept paypal payment for sellers. I am sorry to tell but the site is USELESS due to that.

Do you take care about WEEE in all countries (in every single country one after each other)?
That would cost indies thousands of euros to fulfill that regulation.

Also how about plastic and cartons? Everything needs to be registered and reported monthly in Europe nowadays.

Europe is a heaven for bureaucracy.
