What is this suction/magnetic support part called - stencil printer
mairo:
Can some one tell me what are these suction/magnetic support called and where one could buy some?
Does not have to be the exact same part, I have seen many manual/semi auto printers have similar supports. I could even make them myself, but want to see what options are outhere already - types, availability, price..
loki42:
They're usually just called board supports or tooling. I'm not sure if there's a name for those specific ones but the mpm manual just refers to them as vacuum cups and the overall concept as tooling.
SMTech:
I haven't seen generic ones anywhere. When you look for support tooling for bigger brand automatic printer tooling you can certainly find generic copies of support pins in various shapes and sizes but smaller semi auto or manual printers much like the one in this picture have very short stubby support which are somewhat unique to the brand or model. We have an Essemtec (so PBT) printer that uses very similar ones to those pictured except they daisy chain as the printer doesn't have a manifold.
Larger printer also have bars or blocks rather than pins or cups as an option and beyond that custom plates with suction and support delivered where it is needed.
If you can't get the manufacturer/distributor to sell you some extra one making some isn't a bad idea

I have this on my Essemtec Stencil SP-002ML printer but don't know what suction is used for? If its magnetic won't pcb stick to it already? I still need to order squeegees.
mairo:
The magnetic side is to stick to the machine’s base plate. The suction side is to hold the PCB flat.
I am guessing i will need to machine/fabricate some.
