On practical convenience between thread and taper rod
« on: December 26, 2022, 06:42:44 am »
Which system is easier and more practical, threaded or tapered rod/shaft male-female pair in doing fastening and releasing of connection mainly between Arbor and chuck (and else connections as extra information)?

The taper is excellent, so long you have the extraction tools, it has very little chance of binding, wheras threaded stuff can bind.

Are we talking drill chucks here?
For precision, nothing beats tapers (except shrinking, but that's very specialized). For ease-of-use, threaded mounts are nicer, but only work in one direction.
