ESD safe mini lineman pliers?
« on: November 30, 2023, 08:07:18 am »
I am looking for a pliers head that is serrated perpendicular to the length of the pliers, with a blunt nose.

The purpose of these pliers is to grab a fat component (diode etc) from the side, and then bend it over.
Like mini linemans pliers (5 inch long total).

this with ESD handles

does it exist? their the best for thick diode legs. they need serration.

I would also recommend the Knipex.  I have over a dozen of their pliers.  They are some of the best that are out there.

properly bent diode leads for chirstmas.

I have TONs of high end pliers I bought over the years but oddly enough for bending thick leads, the cheap ass shit is the best. I have some hopes for the serrated knipex.

I really want the fat head for gripping big leads. I could chop it off I guess.

In the past I have modified some long nose pliers with a dremel (like) tool to create a custom profile on it's head.

I got the perfect tool, but its from like 1920. needs esd handles and a entire weekend of work though. I think the quality under neath the patina is better then the new amazon tool.

Also the cutter is totally shot, I wonder if you can replace that with something useful or just patch it with epoxy.

Anyone know ESD safe handle materials ?

A good reference to KNIPEX pliers.
For electronic pliers look at approx page 256.
Explanations of tips and symbols/pictograms is in the last few pages > pg 344
