There's printed on a product package "light duty", so...
« on: January 07, 2023, 01:44:35 pm »
How come there's printed on a product package "light duty" as opposed to commonly claimed "heavy duty" by other suggesting high quality product?

Is the manufacturer simply humble, admits its product is standard or lower quality or what's actually the market product convention?

(real case is 13 mm drill chuck)

"Light duty" generally refers to products that are designed for occasional or infrequent use, as opposed to "heavy duty" products which are built for frequent or intensive use.

The manufacturer may use the term "light duty" to accurately describe the intended usage and performance capabilities of the product, rather than making false claims about its durability or quality. Additionally, it may be a marketing strategy, lower-end products can be sold at a lower price point.

In the case of a 13mm drill chuck, a "light duty" chuck may be suitable for occasional DIY projects or home repairs, while a "heavy duty" chuck would be more appropriate for professional or industrial use.

Hello

on drill chuck light duty is also a question of maximum torque , if you drill wood or plastic drilling torque will be lower than drilling steel and that more true when you go in big drill diameter

They are all completely meaningless terms slapped onto products by the marketing department and they are just guided by what they think will make them the most profits for the market they sell their product on.

No, marketing would not apply "light duty" to a drill chuck to increase profits.
Instead, that term would be applied to avoid warranty claims when someone breaks the chuck by overloading it.
