90° 3006 trimmer adapter / direction changer
« on: June 07, 2024, 09:43:01 am »
Hi, I'm reposting this here as maybe there is more chance the volt nut gang has come across this thing in some precision equipment.

I have been working on an old lab scale form Sartorius, 1979 vintage. inside I have found some odd (to me) plastic contraptions that are used to make a couple of trimmer adjustable from the top.
They snap on regular 3006p trimmers and allow them to be adjusted when the scale is assembled.
Being old brittle plastic they didn't take to well being adjusted and are broken.
For now I have solved replacing the trimmer in question with a bodged in 10 turn pot that will then face the hole in the right direction, but it is not ideal.
are this thing still made anywhere? I cannot even find the right therm to search them.

It’s a long shot, but have you tried contacting the manufacturer? Contelec no longer makes trimmers, but the company still exists: https://www.contelec.ch/

(If they sold their trimmer business to someone else, I’ve been unable to identify who bought it.)

That looks like a project for 3D printing, SLA or sumsuch to make the gears.

So everyone is clear, Calibration = Taking Measurement against a known source, Verification = Checking Calibration against Specification, Adjustment = Adjusting the unit to be within specifications.
