Farewell to our friend "LARS"

Farewell to our friend "LARS"

Our forum member and friend Lars passed away peacefully on December 28th, surrounded by his loving family in Sweden.

Lars remained strong and kept his amazingly positive attitude during his battle with a serious illness over the last few months.

I had the pleasure to get to know Lars many years ago; when I learned that he had developed the temperature compensation of the Joe Geller SVR-T 10V reference board.

Together with a small group of eevblog members, we shared hardware and knowledge throughout the years. Lars was always willing to share his deep understanding of metrology related electronics, and to help anyone that was in need.

Lars has touched many engineering hearts, especially here at the metrology section of the eevblog.

I am posting this farewell message with permission of his family and wish my deepest condolences to his wife, their children, grandchildren and extended family.

Here is a picture of Lars from the summer of 2018 at his daughters wedding.

For those who read this thread and want to see the excellent GPSDO project of Lars, here's the thread:

It inspired me and it will undoubted inspire many others.

Good bye Lars, it was way to early  :'(

How sad :-(  I always enjoyed and learned from his posts. We will be poorer here without him. Farewell.

I only knew of Lars briefly and due to the GPSDO project that he posted. Lars brought much inspiration and will live on with many in their hearts and memories. I will remember Lars and I am sure many more will become familiar with Lars and his wonderful contributions. Condolences to the family and peace to you, Lars. Thank you

I wasn't directly aware of Lars, but as is the case with great people I was aware of his work and the GPSDO thread in particular. The forum lost a good one, but his legacy lives on.

Hello,

I also had learned much from him.
And had a nice personal correspondence.

My deep sympathy is with his family.

One of his ideas besides the GPSDO project will live within the AD587LW project  (the enhanced SVR-T cirquit).

Lars was a true gentleman and completely unselfish in his help to others and respectful handling of our questions and ideas, at whatever level, wide of the mark or not.

I will miss him and will remain very grateful to have had the opportunity to benefit of his advice. Thank you Lars.

My condolences to his family.
Best Regards, Chris

Farewell Lars.

Sad time for the forums  :'(

While I might not have interacted with him, myself, I've seen a lot of his posts as inspirations.

Condolences to all of his friends and family!

I think this sums it up very well. I had an exchange of messages with Lars on his GPSDO and despite being ill (he was open about this) he still sent me lengthy and very helpful replies to my questions. His friendly willingness to help and encourage came through very strongly and though this was my only contact I feel that I know him and will miss him.
