GPSDO w/o oven?
« on: October 15, 2019, 05:41:19 pm »
Found this listing on ebay, claims to be the most energy efficient GPS reference standard. Apparently, no oven used for stabilizing the XO. Good idea or bad? Crystal oscillators tend to be quite susceptible to temperature change and it seems this device uses a 1PPS signal from a GPS receiver, which means its regulation is going to be very slow.

I can understand their goal of saving power but that shouldn't exclude a TCXO.  :-//

During the development process we have focussed mainly on cost and power consuption. To reach these goals, there is no temperature or oven controlled oscillator.
