Powering a REF IC with another REF IC

Hi
Does this idea give us some benefits? suppose we use a 5V ref IC to power a 2.5V REF IC? Does it increase the performance of the 2.5V reference?

Having a stable supply for a reference can increase the performance. However with modern reference chips the supply does not have to be that stable. So no need (and no more significant improvement) to be better than standard regulators.

Many circuits for shunt references even use the reference itself so set the current the reference is powered with.

Read the line regulation specs in the datasheets.
My guess is that temperature and ageing are more significant factors.

It will increase the power supply rejection ratio but you can do the same thing by powering the reference from its own amplified output which is commonly done with zener diode references.
