Photos or never happen'd.  :-DMM

Yeah :(

I was going to take my camera but it wouldn't have easily fitted in my handbaggage. Really.

Shame, because I would have liked to take some photos of their equipment (etc, he said tantalisingly), and other things at the Faire.

No camera in your phone?

Certainly not. A camera in a phone; what will they think of next! It does, however do SMS (but not MMS, obviously).
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Hi ttggzzz,

it was a pleasure meeting you! The reaction of the other users clearly show that they missed the event except for e61_phil that I met the day after. Kind of sad as people are alreading setting up calibration clubs trying to reduce uncertainty but not joining the opportunity to do so at the fair. What a pity!

Did you know that the multimeter that measured your Transcell 10V reference was calibrated the day before?  8)
There is not too much uncertainty left about it. I hope it does not drift alot.

I am too tired now to provide metrology porn pictures as we continued calibrating at home after the fair closed and I still have a cold. Maybe another time?  ^-^

Did you pass Hannover customs without any hassle or did they ask you to disconnect the battery inside for security reasons?

Absolutely no problem whatsoever in either direction, carrying everything as hand baggage :) I suspect it helped that I needed 4 trays for the x-ray, two for the usual bags/clothing and two for electronic equipment including a small multimeter with leads. There was a long queue, and they probably guessed I would have been delighted to discuss things with them :)

Plus I'm old and I probably look more silly that threatening :)

I'm now stuck at Heathrow waiting for the coach, and I will be interested to see if the voltage is the same when I get home. Could x-rays shift anything?

Please pass on my thanks to your colleague that showed me the Tek 6R1; I missed saying goodbye.

I'd say you are a friendly and polite voltage extremist. ;)

I guess so because I remember reading about robot breakdowns in Fukushima. But I honestly have no clue regarding the effects of little doses. You will have to return next year and extend the analysis of voltage references in terms of temperature, humidity and pressure to radiation.  8)

Well, I'm just a visitor at the fair. Will let you know nevertheless because I took a note of somebody's email address from the booth aside named "Wellenkino" (wave cinema) with all the beautiful old Tektronix oscilloscopes.

A little hint for other readers regarding the metrology porn not yet disclosed:

We had a Si- Ball at the Faire :)   No fake, one of the first series (pure Si28 and Si29) , mono cristal, about 1kg , and pretty close to a perfect ball. I'm still impressed that I was allowed to bring it there regarding the price tag ... something between 'priceless' and ???

And we actually had a JJA, a Quatum-Hall-standard  and a JAWS (a JJA AWG) there too, naked without bottle.

Since you mention the Si-ball and remind me of the picture from the PTB-website where the temperature of it is measured by a thermocouple: Do you by any chance know Mr. Dietmar Drung? Please ask him if he maybe has a spare pdf of detailed schematics of his superior chopper amplifier.  ;D

Yes I was really surprised to see one of these round Si balls. Thank you for the nice chat on the first day, giving some interesting insights of your work.

And I really hope that I can be there if you do a "Tag der offenen Tür" event.

By the way here's a picture of the precious gem.

Will be the 4. time, can we say traditionally ?
Our 5700 and other nice gear is freshly calibrated and waiting for you :)

I will definitely visit the Maker Faire, hoping to meet other volt-nuts also.

I will be there either Saturday or Sunday, maybe we can arrange a common time frame here.

I'll carry some artefacts  to the fair

Oh, great!

I put a LTZ1000 and my Fluke 5450A in my bag. Both measured on a calibrated Fluke 8508A not long ago.

Worth seeing and worth travelling to see[1].

Recommended. Take camera; last time they had some serious fodder for the TEA brigade :)

Hi tggzzz,

will you join us this time again?

Anyway, I'll flood the booth with gear. :)
And this time I do my best not to rip cables apart.  :palm:

I am looking forward to meeting the usual suspects from PTB and lots of voltnuts!

Best regards
try

P.S.: Henrik, don't forget spare cables and/or a soldering station + magic solder.  ;)

I hope that I'll be there too. Hopefully I'm welcome as I'm not (yet?) belonging to the group of Voltnuts but easily attracted by well designed technical stuff and people who like to talk about it  ^-^

Maybe I see something from that room again? Taken last Saturday in Braunschweig.
