Title: Saving a position in Heather?
Post by: elroy on March 05, 2020, 06:33:58 am
I have a Trimble Thunderbolt that's been running for a few weeks now, and interfaced to Lady Heather for a few days. Everything looks good, except I notice the statement "No saved posn" appears in red. I've searched through the documentation I could find, and can't find a reference to this, or to a method for saving a position. Can this be done from Heather?

Try SL (set location).  Or EE (update EEPROM)

Saving the location on a Thunderbolt ven be a bit weird.  The Tbolt command for setting the location only takes single precision numbers... which is not all that accurate.   Heather's precision location survey code has a stupid hack to save a more precise location...  it starts doing single point survey commands until one happens to produce a result within a meter or so of the desired location.   This can take a few seconds... or days.

Thanks. When I searched on "location" rather than "position," I found the document http://www.ke5fx.com/heather/heather.pdf (http://www.ke5fx.com/heather/heather.pdf) which has some good info. Entering SL from the keyboard prompted it tot read the values determined from GPS, which were accepted ("Position saved" now in green). I also noted the option to specify values from the command line with "/po".
