Leader 856 multimer - any info?
« on: July 06, 2021, 10:31:35 am »
Hello,

I've bought a Leader 856 multi-meter as a companion to trusted HP3468B. The meter is working, has a nice display, but the only info I found about it is the attached pdf.
Is there any manual or better a service manual available for it? I found a few pages offering it if You register (like ameblo.jp), but for me it seems to be a scam - please correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway if someone is interested I can post a few images, from disassembly / cleaning / restoration.
Thanks in advance,
Michael Widlok

The meter turns out to be OK (still must check the accuracy) and build quality is nice.
Case was really bad initially, however it does not have any vents, so inside is almost perfect. The only obvious problem is dead and leaking 2.4V NiCd battery. PCB routing is nice, and there were metal screens over analog sections. Now I'm thinking of replacing battery with supercap, it seems that it is only to keep setting when turned off. It seems that meter use 80C51 MCU with 27C128 memory + two 82C55 IO chips. Main ADC is an add-on module soldered on main pcb. The good thing is display - big, bright and very readable, much better then on HP3468.
