Valhalla 2703 Power Up Fault
« on: August 04, 2023, 02:38:22 pm »
Hi,

Just brought home a 2703, after a 300+ mile round trip to collect it. Pretty clean inside, with just the right hand plastic handle extension broken off. On power up, it first comes up with "Hello" on the voltage display, then "3d" on the frequency display. Then "bad", voltage and "data", frequency.  No diags in the manual, but any info as to what this means ?. Can copy the eprom, if anyone needs it, eprom label says: "2703 VD 1-10-89"...

Thanks,

Chris

There is some trouble shooting information in chapter 6 of the manual, but it indeed does not mention this error (or any errors on the display). Just a random guess, but maybe the NOVRAM (IC24/25 according to the manual) is corrupt?

Thanks for that. Trouble shooting info is pretty dire, but could  email Valhalla, as they must know what the codes mean. Can get new 2212 in ceramic for around 5ukp here, but they may need to be proprogrammed, assuming they don't auto set defaults in power up. 6809 system and probably programmed in asm. There is info on the memory map, so could disassemble it as a last resort..
