[AVR] LIN bus on the ATmega 0 series

I have a project where LIN bus may be desirable. I see the new ATmega4809 has UART hardware that can do LIN. Has anyone used this yet. I don't know much about LIN other than the basics of the protocol and this is more about future proofing. Will i need an interface chip like I would with CAN as the chip will obviously not take up to 18V on it's input.
