I understand your concern. However, the technology gets faster and faster. I would aggree to the last bit if it was 10 years ago.. Today, even medical equipment goes into trash bin in less than 10 years.. New technologies emerge, doctors calculate buying new one's benefit (in money of course, not patient care), and they force hospital to buy new things.. I hate medical being business btw, however it is..

Today, you always have to invent. You can't just produce same board for 10 years and make money.. Or can we? For industry, just keep in mind what you designed, and make new designs as compatible as possible to the past.. Give more time on designing for future compatibilty.. Isn't that wiser?
