atmega168pb availability
« on: July 28, 2015, 04:21:22 pm »
Its almost a year since it was announced, but no stock at digi-key and mouser.  I don't think I ever saw it in stock at mouser since it was announced.
There was supposed to be a 328pb following it, but no word of that yet.

"PB"?  Is this version a reaction to the environmentalists?  "Now with EXTRA Lead!"  :-DD

The PB version is automotive and "picopower". Also still with "preliminary" datasheets, so I think they have bad yields or too much demand.
Or some other problem that is soon to be added to the list of errata. Of which there already are a few.

Just noticing that now.  The product page datasheet link says:
"(file size: 634KB, 24 pages, revision C, updated: 03/2015)"

But there was an update the next month:
Rev. 42176D – 04/2015

The Rev D errata for the 168PB says "no known errata", so maybe it's ready for volume production now.

p.s.
I hope they update the rest of their datasheets to use colored graphs.  In some datasheets the black lines cross/overlap so it is impossible to tell which line applies to which label.

It really did say 2000 earlier.  I saw it.  I think someone bought the reel today.

Octoparts still shows the 2000 but they are gone, but there are other distributors:

Alas, this is typical lag for a new Atmel chip.

They were there earlier today.  But note that link is for Digikey Finland.  And for a Digi-Reel, so purchase of less than the whole factory reel incurs a custom re-reeling fee.  Total cost to buy one would have been about $32, so maybe you won't feel so bad about missing them.

AIUI, they have only the one warehouse, so that should not matter.

I just noticed it wasn't simultaneously listed as in-stock on the US website.  Could have been due to something else.

Newark says they're expecting stock in November, but I wouldn't make plans based on that date.
