Arduino Mega 2560 boards without headers installed?
« on: August 22, 2019, 01:35:55 am »
I just got some of the 2560 minis, but I'm not enthused about the microUSB connector.  I'd like a conventional Mega2560 R3, but without the header sockets installed.

An ebay search didn't turn up any.  Does anyone know of anyone selling such?  Even with a desoldering gun, removing the headers is time consuming.  Sufficiently so that next time I'll simply destroy the headers.

Sigh...

I got 3 of those today.  They don't have USB-B connectors, which was the whole point of my post.  They are wonderful unless you expect to connect and disconnect them a lot.

Just plug it into a USB hub and connect/disconnect the hub. Or use a USB extension cable.

Another idea... use a USB hub with a power switch for each port:

Then you don't even have to unplug anything.

A quick google search shows several vendors selling Mega 2560 without headers.
