ARM SOC/A64 boot initilisation.
« on: March 04, 2021, 12:44:07 am »
Hello!

Thanks for reading! So I have been trying to make a signal board computer based of the pine64 using the A64 SOC, I am a bit confused about initialization. From what I understand, by connecting storage to the right pins the SOC will read the data from the storage and initialize the boot files. I am not sure if it requires a custom bootloader/ flashing of something. I am kinda new to this  whole SOC stuff. Any pointers? Not sure if there is some book to read or something! Also, trying to read the datasheet is a bit much... I have been struggling to understand.

Thanks,
Harley Godfrey

Usually these are sort of empty first, but with bootloader, it doesn't mean they can boot, just that they can read.
Like a computer without a BIOS.

Then you make it read it's "BIOS" and then it can boot, if your "BIOS" can handle that boot media.
