Tech Vocabulary - Help me Find the Right Word(s)
« on: April 22, 2019, 05:48:35 pm »
Let's call a bus's clock "free-running" if it is always oscillating even when there is no transmission of data. An example of a free-running clock would be a non-gated PCLK clock in APB. What do we call a clock that only oscillates during transmission of data? An example would be SPI's SCLK.

Suggestion: a gated clock

It's only enabled when needs to be active.
