ESP-WROOM-32 devkitv1 firmware issues
« on: August 19, 2024, 08:48:38 am »
Hello all good nerds!,

I’m struggling with my secondhand ESP-WROOM-32 IOTDEVKITV1…
Normally if I connecting any ESP on my Mac and start Arduino there I can see with kind of processor it’s, but now it’s showing only ESP32 and nothing about mythe clock speed or how big the flash memory is.
Is this new or do I need to reflash the ESP32 with the factory firmware?
If so what is the best way on the Mac or as last resort window a😬😉

Thank you for you interesting and time to read my topic!

Hope too hear from you!

Can you post a few pics of the board, some board out there dont reset via the com port so arduino cannot reset the device then auto read the specs. the black devkit with psram board has this issue, putting a 10uf 10v cap between gnd and reset will fix that issue.

Not really solved🥺.
It flashed but in Arduino I can’t view the controllers settings.

I dont have a mac but in the pc version  you must match the com port to the device at least once,
click the red box then match "device library" to the com port (green box) , shown here is a fdti cable match to the espdev and where i move that cable too the (eg switch usb ports) it follows even though there is no esp connected to that cable, same goes with ch serial based devices. Please note that in the arduino flashing tool they added com port search option too so even if you select the wrong com port in the ide it can sometime auto find the device leaving you assuming the system config is correct.
i use many ESP's under platformio (personal choice) but i have found that when i am under arduino ide i have to ensure the ide knows the device connected when it's a new device. Sometimes i also have to manually change the device as it see's a serial cable as a esp because they share the same PID/VID so you may have too as well.
