I am looking for a list of ides for pic that work on Linux

Right click on the video and uncheck play - it will stop.

Nice! Yet another thing I don't need windows to do anymore! I guess that just leaves MSOffice and games.

Sun OpenOffice has been out for years. It will read and write all Microsoft Office files.

I know that. The problem is it doesn't to it incredibly well. There's always something that's wrong, and I prefer to not deal with those issues. Once I have more free time I'll go through setting it up in WINE. Or I may just stick windows in virtualbox and install it there.

There is a program for linux wich allows you to play windows games.

WINE is not an alternative for windows, very few programs work as intended. Save yourself the headache set up a dual boot system. A modern computer runs Windows 7 just fine, if your computer is slightly older then use XP. Linux is great, but sometimes you need a proper windows system.

A better choice is Virtualbox or some other VM software.

Well the topic of gaming came up. VM software just isn't quite there yet. But yes, I run Altium Designer from VirtualBox on my laptop and that serves me pretty well, but when it comes to 3D acceleration you're stuck with WINE or dual boot.
I just don't think it's fair to say that either Windows or Linux is superior. It really depends on your needs and preferences.

I know how much of a pain WINE can be. If you want an actual product meant for the task look at Crossover, and Crossover Games.

Neither is any patched version of it though. All CrossOver and TransGaming provide is a few patches and preset setting for games. It can help a little, but it's still not good enough for most applications. Actually TransGaming make themselves look better by saying they support games which are barely playable, while WINE only gives a gold status to things which work flawlessly.

I think you have that backwards. I've never heard of TransGaming, but saying they "support" things with barely work properly sounds like a bad practice to me. Only giving gold status to things which work well consistently seems reasonable.

Yeah, that's what I meant... I was complaining about TransGaming 'cause they don't mention that supported isn't the same as WINE's gold rating.
Edit: just looked it up for accuracy... TransGaming is the company, the actual product is called Cedega.
The Cedega Graphics Development Team is currently investigating this bug. However, we felt
that missing a few icons and the occasional missing texture was not enough to hold off
releasing support for this game.
(The game was barely playable, it was awful)

+1 on Virtualbox. You need plenty of memory and some processing horsepower in the machine but I've run Windows 7 VMs for Matlab/Simulink, and visual studio with no issues.
