Microcontroller boards with USB protection diodes?
(1/1)
ledtester:
Hi all!
I was wondering if there are any microcontroller boards which have some sort of USB capability (e.g. either a USB-UART chip or the microcontroller itself has USB capability) and the board has USB protection diodes protecting the lines.
I suppose I could just take the design files for something like a STM32 Bluepill and just add them, but if there was a module available for sale that already had them so much the better.
PCB.Wiz:
The EFM8UB3 Thunderboard shows a SP1001-04 ESD protection diode.
and I see the EFM32 Happy Gecko Starter Kit shows PRTR5V0U2F ESD protection diode.
mac.6:
Any serious dev boards made by reputable manufacturer will have them (ie, no cheap blue/black/red pill)...

USB protection is best done with a sturdy standalone clamping device e.g. USBLC6-2
Anything anybody can put on a uC chip is not going to cut the mustard, as they say :)
