FPGA vendors & SystemVerilog support for low end devices?

See topic. What are your experiences with fpga vendor XYZ and their SystemVerilog support for their non-crazy-expensive fpga's? For example Xilinx does support SV with their new Vivado toolchain, buuuuut good luck using that for let's say a spartan-6.

From what I gather Altera is a bit better at this. How about ActelMicrosemi, Lattice, etc?

Oh, to clarify, I mean support for synthesis here. Simulation support is somewhat less exciting.

Altera supports SV synthesis in all devices (because all devices use quartus II)
Xilinx 7-series parts using Vivado support it to some extent. 6 series and below must use ISE which doesn't like SV
Lattice Diamond doesn't synthesize it. (Synplify Pro)
Actel/Microsemi don't support it either, they also use Synplify Pro

Good to know Altera supports all devices. The lack of support on the xilinx side I know very well unfortunately. I am somewhat surprised that Lattice & microsemi don't support it though, precisely because they use Synplify Pro. And AFAIK Synplify Pro does support SystemVerilog as per this link. So did you try it and it didn't work? Because that would mean they're using a feature limited version of synplify pro, which would be a bit of a bummer.

Probably because the vendors didn't license out that feature from Synopsys

While I understand the bean counter side of it, it's also a missed opportunity to differentiate themselves from oh let's say Xilinx. Or maybe they did a survey, and only the customers for larger devices really wanted SV, who knows.  Personally I could do without the limitations of verilog-2001 as compared to SV.

altera. no problem. ive used systemverilog ont heir cplds ! not a single problem.

I'm sure you could buy SV from Synopsis if you really wanted to use it

Agreed, but fullblown synopsis tends to be a wee bit more expensive than a vendor specific version.
