Which pgrogrammer? If it's a 5th gen it may fail for IPE version < 6.25 (so anything but the last)
All packs and plugins updated? There has been quite a mayhem since july...

It is a snap programmer. The one with the AVR/PIC jumper. Which is set for PIC
