MPLAB X IDE 5.25 issues
« on: September 12, 2019, 12:57:12 pm »
I bought a Pickit 4 and I installed the latest Mplab v 5.25. The first start gave me the BSOD, the first BSOD since I installed Win 7 on my laptop. After restart, the ide froze. Then it just closed by itself. After that it started working... kinda. Then I tried the IPE. It wouldn't connect to PIC16F946 no matter what, wrong id even though it should be supported by Pickit 4 and it does program it from IDE.
Any experience with this version of Mplab?
I see some complain about issues with v 5.20. What's the latest known stable version?

Same with MPLAB v 5.15. Pickit 3 is OK, Pickit 4 has a problem with the "correct" ID. IDE doesn't seem to be bothered. What's going on?

Is it time for another Pickit rant Dave? Or you already did it and I missed it.   :palm:

I’m running 5.25 on a Mac, and it works “ok”...

I believe one of the release notes said that it’s now a 64bit application...  is your win7 a 64bit version?
