ESP32 module clone on CYD2USB board?
« on: March 08, 2026, 06:51:52 pm »
I got the "popular" CYD2USB board as a gift and spent couple of hours playing with it. It works, it seems, btw..
What is interesting is the ESP32 module on that yellow board - I wonder what kind of clone is it like?
The ESP32 flash tool identifies it as:
Code: [Select]
start detect chip...please wait
chip sync ...
Chip is ESP32-D0WD-V3 (revision v3.1)
Features: Wi-Fi, BT, Dual Core + LP Core, 240MHz, Vref calibration in eFuse, Coding Scheme None
Crystal is 40MHz
MAC: ------------ [removed]
Manufacturer: 68
Device: 4016
Status value: 0x400000
Detected flash size: 4MB

And I've been using it as "S3" in platformio..

Presumably its a real ESP32 IC under the metal can, its just that someone else made the module. Gave it their own number CS-32D.
Found the same markings here: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005009082730302.html along with 4 other companies.

LCSC also sells brands: AI thinker, DOIT, and Fanstel
