Ard_noob audio player

Hi there..
I have never physically touched an arduino or even been near one.... but theres a first time for everything!

I hope to make an audio playback device that plays a 3 (or so) seccond WAV clip.
It should activate from a button press (via a relay) and also output to another relay which will trigger a strobe light.

SO.. having no pic programming experience or hardware (except an altera device while at uni..) I have decided to take the plunge into arduino and bought 2 boards, a mega and an uno.
I also got a wave shield.
http://www.ladyada.net/make/waveshield/

Right now i´m at the... "ok now what" stage.. The "where to start" moment.

They wont arrive till next week (18th) but I can spend a few days doing some research.. but I think its one of those cases of, as I cant physically touch and fiddle with it.. its not as clear as it could be.

Comments/suggestions for an annoying noob?

Adafruit has instructions and examples for the WaveShield on their site. There should be an example that plays sounds from button presses.

For getting started with Arduino, there are tutorials and examples at the Arduino web site http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/HomePage and at Adafruit http://learn.adafruit.com/category/learn-arduino.
