STM8 halt mode power consumption
« on: November 10, 2021, 12:44:28 pm »
Hello, im trying to develop firmware for an STM8AL31E88, and im trying to wake the chip from the halt mode with an RTC Wake up interrupt. The code seems to be working but the power consumption seems a bit too high, it is about 900 uA, when it should be around 1/2 uA according to the data sheet. So i thought about 2 options, first my measurament tool is not good enough, i used an oscilloscope with a shunt resistor, i tried both 10 ohm and 47 ohm, and i also used a multimeter with uA measurament, they both seems to give me the same measurament. The second option is that the uC doesnt enter halt mode for some reason so its probably code related? Does anyone have an idea?

Are you measuring the power consumption of just the STM8, or are there other components (e.g. a voltage regulator or pullups) that may be having an effect?
