In my new project I´m using the PIC18F4550 with embedded USB port and I use the PC to recognize USB EasyHID Wizard. Very easy to use. |

Some of the cheap routers have USB host in the chipset. If you can find a deal, it's about as cheap as it gets. |

There are many many inexpensive ARM dev boards out there which provide USB host, some are OTG too. |

wouldn't it be easier just to use PS/2 mouse ? Any way, you can try LPC17XX series (NXP Cortex M3). They have Device/Host/OTG. |
