Using STM32 FSMC with FTDI FT232/FT2232 CPU FIFO mode

Hi, anybody here have experience connecting an FT232/FT2232 chip to an STM32 using the FSMC peripheral (or another MCU with maybe similar peripheral, like PIC32 PMP or ATSAM EBI)? Have you managed to get it to work, and if so, how was the performance?
