a few things jumped out for me:

1. code reusability / portability is key. to me, it is less about porting code to a different system but more about being confident that your code is time tested and bug free.
2. 8-bit is dying fast. 32-bit has taken over.
3. TI leading the ecosystem is no surprise to me. CCS is a better system than other Eclipse-based solutions (like LPCxpresso), and Stellaris/Tivaware helps get people up and running.
4. People pick quality tools vs. quality chips. No surprise there and I suspect that trend will continue.
5. the disparity, both positive and negative, between P61 and P62 shows you who the winners are and who the losers are, in a few years.
6. Happy to see that PIC24 is doing well in its segment. Except that segment is shrinking.

Here is an incomplete version for 2015: http://webpages.uncc.edu/~jmconrad/ECGR4101-2015-08/Notes/UBM%20Tech%202015%20Presentation%20of%20Embedded%20Markets%20Study%20World%20Day1.pdf

- Less proprietary comm and more bluetooth, thats good.
- The usage of C hasn't really changed during this study, and in 2015 it actually went up (but could be from demographic change). So will be interested to see if these stats show up in 2016: http://www.electronics-lab.com/end-c-know/

That isn't funny. It is rather worrying!
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Read: you age 1.9 years for every year working on an embedded project.  :-\
