Fake processors on ebay?
« on: October 08, 2022, 04:42:09 am »
I posted an earlier thread looking for MC9S12C32CFAE25.  It's 48 pin, 25MHz, 32KBytes flash.

I found a few listings on ebay for MC9S12C64CFAE, but the part numbers on the devices in the photos does not include the last two digits, which identify the speed option of 16 or 25MHz.

I tried to get answers from two of these sellers but got the runaround.  I suspect these are scammers.

I have attached a photo of a genuine part, one from ebay, along with my question and his reply.

Must be a scam, the Freescale logo is pretty poor.

"long lead time reported on this product"
factory lead time is 110 weeks
Yikes, I am grateful this is only a hobby for me now.

One of the suppliers coughed up a real part number (sans photo) complete with the speed option, @$12, with a 60 day return policy, so I ordered 20 of them.

I don't consider this website to be a dependable source for original ICs.
