A key advantage of logic (or protocol) analysers over scopes is their ability to not capture the boring/irrelevant stuff. That leaves us able to concentrate on the unusual/interesting stuff.

Even scopes (at least the good ones) have advanced triggers, and these can be immensely useful.

Agreed, but I've never created an arm/trigger/capture FSM for a scope, nor filtering out everything not associated with a clock edge.
