4g router in steel shed

I have had to resort to 4g internet via mobile router connected to a yagi aerial on my shed since moving to the country in SE Qld.
The signal is very sketchy at times but I mostly do get 3 bars which gives reasonable service.
What I can't understand is why I lose connection when I have it all closed up.  :-//
This doesn't affect the signal on the router but it seems the laptop loses communication with the router.
I thought maybe because the shed is steel with aluminium bubble wrap insulation its having an effect on the wireless. But I tried tethering with usb cable and its the same.
Has anyone had an experience like this and found the solution?

You have a Yagi feeding an LTE modem in your shed via coax? (BTW, your modem probably has two antenna ports, you should use two antennas with their polarization planes at a right angle to get a much higher data rate)
Have you tried placing the modem right next to the antenna with a short cable, and than route a LAN cable inside your shed? If you're currently connecting via USB, long USB cables tend to be susceptible to interference, especially if they aren't of the best quality, and you shouldn't go longer than ~5 meters with USB 2.0 without an active repeater.
