Ble device power consumption measurement
« on: September 04, 2020, 05:32:21 pm »
Hello,

I have used both the power profiler kit (https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Development-Kits/Power-Profiler-Kit) from Nordic and the power shield (https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/x-nucleo-lpm01a.html) from STM to measure power consumption of a BLE device. Both the power profiler kit and the power shield are under $100 USD and easy to use, but they are lacking slightly for my needs.

The Nordic one can measure up to 70mA and works well but cannot export the measurement data, and it seems that the STM one can export measurement data but can only measure up to 50mA and that is not sufficient. I've seen the OTII device which is too expensive.

I am hoping that Nordic would add a data exporting feature to their power profiler software, but are there any alternative ways?
Their previous software (https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/49641/exporting-data-from-ppk) had an exporting feature but the previous software doesn't work as well as their current version.
