Blog about home-PCB-manufacturing?
« on: September 11, 2011, 03:33:13 pm »
hi dave,

how do you create your board prototypes? if you create the lightning masks, print them out, etch the boards all by yourself. perhaps you could do a tutorial about that. what is important in the layout software to create good masks for self made boards?

greetings.

I wrote this article about making PCBs this many years ago - most of it is still valid.
Quick summary of the key points :
Ensure your PCB software puts small holes in pads to act as centre-punch marks for drilling.
Laser print on drafting film.
Use silicate, not hydroxide developer.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs
