Bug in displaying long nick ?
« on: February 22, 2014, 03:15:26 am »
Dave, this is getting intense lately from new comer in this forum, is there any thing can be done to fix this ?

Or you can use your admin power to intervene by directly changing the underscore "_" to space character " " so the nick can wrap down when forum displays it in post created by that nick owner, its quite annoying.

If you removed the "I am",the problem would go away.
We will assume by default that you are talking about yourself, not someone else.

Yep, created above nick for Dave to exercise with nick modding, do what ever you like and just delete it once you're done.

Currently, user name has a  maximum length of 30 characters. This is in the code and in the database
It's a simple enough change to make, the database field could be left as is and just the code changed. I did this in a test SMF setup I have.

Even though it's a straight forward change it means one more thing that is non standard when it comes time to upgrade SMF or to install a mod. Testing would need  to be done to make sure everything continues to work as it should.

Correction: Two places, apart from registration there's also the section that allows users to select their own screen name. Screen name can be longer than user (login) name.
