Can't you just copy/paste with quote tags?  BTW, the quote button is fine with Chrome.

Yeah, okay here at work with Firefox 111.0.1 and Mint 19.3
Also okay on iPhone SE 2020 with iOS 16.4 and Brave.
I'll see if my tablet has changed it's mind by the time I get home again.

Turns out it was my over zealous ad/tracker blocker.
