There are already forum and youtube apps for most devices. What would you suggest that would be different or better?
Was it really supposed to do that?

Someone did write an app for convenience some time back, but it doesn't really do much I'm afraid.

it would just be for conveniance and posibly for extra advertising.

So it would really offer nothing to those already using existing apps and, with advertising, is likely to be avoided by everyone else.
Was it really supposed to do that?

I don't know where people get this ridiculous idea that every web site should have its own phone app. It makes absolutely no sense to install 100s of apps just to view sites that I can read perfectly well in the web browser.  :palm:

Yes, that is just ridiculous when I'm browsing a website and it pops up "we have an app". "Yeah, I have a microwave oven, but I'm not bugging you with it".
I'm guessing next step is they totally break forums and wordpress for mobile sites, so we "can" download their app.

How many people views 100's of sites regularly though?
I can understand the idea if you only a follow a couple of sites.
We are getting an app for the AmpHour for example.

I'd still prefer to use a single forum manager (like TapaTalk) on a mobile device for connecting quickly to a dozen or so forums, rather than having an app for each, which would just be a nuisance.

Creating an app for an app's sake is just silly.

Was it really supposed to do that?

I wasn't talking about viewing 100s of sites regularly, I'm talking about every goddamn web page that I ever look at on my phone throwing a stupid ad for their app on top of whatever I'm trying to read.  >:(

And I still don't see why installing an app is any more convenient than bookmarking a site.

Well you don't have to use it do you but some people would find it very useful it's nice to not have to search the eev blog every time I want to use the forum I'd rather just go on to an app on my phone

An app can provide a much better user experience than a web page.

For mobile eevblog I am using Tapatalk and Pocket Casts (from a small smart Alec Australian company). Work very good for me.

Edit: one thing that does not work is that Tapatalk 'timeline' feature for eevblog. Works for other site except for eevblog. Might be some settings on the server side, don't know.
