Function Generator reviews..
« on: November 19, 2013, 03:34:29 am »
As some one else has pointed out in another thread there seems to be a lack of Function Generator reviews or even tear downs, forgive if there has been some, I'm only up to video #435.

I'd like to see some reviews to see what is good and what isn't in the market place, especially since I'm currently looking for one.

:)

Until Dave makes one, see threads discussing the Instek SFG 1003 for a basic FG and the Hantek 3x25, which provides bang for buck high frequency output and waveform generation.  From eevblog videos, you can get a general viewpoint by searching videos terms under 'generators' which cover function, signal, waveform or RF generators.
Best Wishes,

He has these vids available:

Siglent Teardown:
Agilent Teardown:
Rigol 4162 Non-Teardown:
Rigol 4162 Non-Teardown:

Personally I would love to see a teardown on a Rigol 4xxx or 5xxx.  It's been a while since I saw that video, but I think Rigol lent those to Dave for a short period of time and expected them back not torn down so he didn't so it.

I've seen the 4000 on the shelf in heaps of videos since. I think the reason for not posting a teardown is that Mike has already done an excellent one:
