basic circuits
« on: February 13, 2013, 07:19:59 am »
Hi,

thanks for all the excellent blog videos so far!

I'd like to see a video of some basic beginner stuff like basic circuits of transistors, mosfets, opamps etc.
Not how to calculate current, resistors etc. exactly (that can be looked up easily) but from a practical view.

Personally, I'd like to have the following questions answered:
* When to use a transistor or a mosfet for switching
* what what are reasonable resistor/transistor (or mosfet?) combinations for current amplification of digital signals

Ben Krasnow has some good shit, so does afrotechmods

Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.

Not only digital, analog too.

I really enjoyed Ben's video about transistors. Even if I knew most of this stuff it was interesting, useful and great memory refresh. I would love to see whole series of videos like that.

I second the idea. I would love to see a video on choosing transistors for projects!

I think I see this posted every once in a while. The problem is there's so many applications for a transistor that it's hard to cover even the basics in a single video. If you watch all Dave's videos you can catch a lot of small bits that add up nicely with some additional readings (like The Art of Electronics for example) and tutorials.

Watching dave make some basic circuits would be really nice.
Notice how the 3 parts soldering tutorials are among the top 5 viewed videos on the blog because I think they are a aimed mainly at the newbies like us.
