I've added a mod that allows you mark topics as important.
There is a button down the bottom to toggle.
And you should have a new menu item (mine is under the Home button, but could be under Moderate) titles "Out Important Topics".

It should read "Our Important Topics" ;D
Mine is also under the Home button.
So, because you say 'Our' does this mean it is global for all users, or is it for individual use for their own important items? :-//
-
It appears to be global since this topic, marked important, appears in the "Our important topics" list. I was able to unmark and remark it as important.

Yes, that is what I am assuming at this stage too.

Yeah, how do you actually use this feature ?
Got some old tabs open but I can't see any changes or methods of adding importance. :-//
Is this equivalent to "Watching" a thread ?
Edit
Got no important's now, so how do I add one ?

Yeah somebody must of "unmark as important" to test as it was there and then it disappeared.
Couldn't find it either until I scrolled all the way down. It's underneath the share box, next to "link to calendar"
-
I just marked it important, the button down the bottom changes its text to unmark, which I did and then is disappeared again.
Wondering what the use case for this is if anybody can mark, unmark a topics importance

And I just marked it unimportant.
Not sure how useful this feature really is - seems more useful for moderators that don't feel it's important enough to pin?
-
I agree, what is important to one person may not be so to another. Who would be the judge as to the importance of a particular topic? :-// Should it be the moderators only who can unmark?
It could also be an avenue for unwanted abuse (someone unmarking a topic every time it was marked by an particular individual) :--
-
The idea is that you can set up a list of threads that are important to you, or so you don't forget etc, so you can easily find and access them again.

Oh, hang on, is everyone saying that the list is NOT different for each individual?
-
Exactly! It seems to be global Dave! :-//

That would be excellent if you can get it to work on an individual basis rather than global. :-+

Yep, I've been crashing around in Profile trying to find a way to turn this feature on.....no luck, maybe it only works for you. :-//
Global setting ?

Hi tautech
Here are some pictures of where these things are

Mint. :-+ :-+ :-+
Yep, older tabs I have open don't display it.
Refresh them and then the Mark as Important button is available to add to Important and then visible in the drop down under Home.
Long overdue addition, thanks Dave. :)

Ok, bugger, I'll remove it then, it's of no use.

Please don't.....some blind old fart couldn't see it.......It works fine.

He's removing it because it's a global setting. You don't get your own list of important threads. If it was a per-user list, that would be useful.

Why not, other forums have a "Watch Thread", isn't this the same ? :-//

I'm not familiar with those other forums, but with the feature on this forum, if you marked a thread as important, anyone else could remove it from the list or add some other thread to the list. You would have no control over what's in it. It would be a free-for-all.
I don't know why it was written that way. Maybe it was only intended for moderators to use or something. In its current form, it's not useful. If it was a personal list, it would be nice.
-
I think it would be very useful if it was able to be personalised. :-+
Perhaps there is a setting to change it from global to individual that Dave has yet to discover. :-//
