is there a way to unsubscribe from a thread?
« on: March 19, 2014, 04:25:53 pm »
for some reason, I can't locate this option on this forum software.  I automatically get subscribed to threads I post in, but how can I control this better?

I will usually watch the threads I post in but sometimes I just want to suppress one or two threads so that it does not show up on my 'unread' list.  is there a way to do that?

At forum profile, in the "Modify Profile" menu, select "Notifications" sub-menu, un-tick the "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.".

The word "Notification" in this SMF forum is called "thread subscription" feature at other popular forum out there.

There is a "notify" button next to "reply" in each thread, I believe you can also double-toggle this is in a thread you wish to subscribe from.

And a link in each email.

Also, subscribed threads have an un-notify button, instead of a notify one. Something like that anyway.

But yea, finding your subscriptions is a PITA with this software.

in fact, I can unsubscribe from a thread I have subscribed before. : just clic the notify - unnotify button
but when I answer to a thread, I always get all the answers after that, and yes sometimes, in a long thread, when everything has been said, or that the actual content of the thread is far away from the original subject, I want to unsubscribe : then I cannot because I dont have a un-notify button to do it.

guys, I don't see this.  I see notify as an EMAIL notifier, but it does not remove you from seeing new thread updates in your 'unseen threads' view.

I use that view as my starting page, to see if there are new posts to threads I also posted in.  but I need to be able to remove that flag on various topics.  it seems there is no way to do that.  I don't get email notifies and the notify button just allows ADDING you, not REMOVING you.

maybe dave can comment if he sees this thread.  noise mgmt is important when you are active in a forum and have many threads you have posted to ;)

Ah. I see what you mean. My solution is email notification of subscribed threads. I do not look at page you're referring to.
